In normal instances chicks remain in hatcher for 72 hours before being moved to transport them, this allows for full consumption of yoke and a steady environment for first 3 days of life greatly improving their outcome.

Because of the high demand this year. not only chicks from us but just about all the hatcheries are doing this as well they are being removed after 24 hours. This means instead of 3 days old chicks you are receiving 1 or 2 day old chicks which affects the mortality and survival rate.

We at Mystic Mountain Hollow DO NOT follow this as our chicks from here will always be 3 days old before selling them. but because of the demand we have been outsourcing to a couple partners which are more concerned with quantity over quality and well being.

Over the last 2 months when we incorporated large quantity chicks sales we have lost $11475.00 in several areas, Gas for the free delivery, brooder overloading due to no shows, as well as the 11+ extra bags of Tucker Milling chick crumbles a week. We have put a donation button on the top of our page. Any help that can be given is 100% tax deductible plus donors will also receive extra percentage off future orders.

We are new at this quantity and are learning as well, but we don't want to take away from our superior customer service. But again we cant continue with losses like this as we don't get paid for this.

We have incorporated some changes in the ordering procedure and would like to go back to…

We are having to make some changes in our chick purchasing process because of thousands of dollars in losses the past two months.

We are a 501c3 nonprofit and are not looking to gain anything other than operating expenses, but then again losses it what is causing us to do this.

1) we will require prepayment on all orders. Because of our replacement policy and recent losses and replacements of chicks. We will not offer pay on pickup anymore.

2) we will only be delivering when orders are scheduled. Mondays and Thursdays. We will still bring extras but the extra trips is too big or a expense.

3) we will hatch or purchase what is in demand only as our brooders have been overflowing and not able to move the chicks in a timely fashion. Not to mention the extra 10 bags of chicks crumbles every other week.

We will get your chicks to you as soon as possible. We are having transportation issues, You are welcome to come to the farm and pick up or tomorrow we should resume with a rental car. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused but at this time it is unavoidable.
